Program Specialist Job Description
Program Specialists will serve on the Program Staff and will work to execute the camp program. Program Specialists will work to execute the specific program activities such as climbing, arts & crafts or waterfront activities.
Responsible to: Camp New Fork Program Director
Contract period: June 9 – August 17, 2025
Work week: The work week will usually be Monday through Friday for staff members, although there will be some instances where some staff may need to support on an extra day in the week.

General Responsibility – Coordinate And Run Specialized Activity Of Camp New Fork
Instruct 3rd through 7th grade campers in specialized activity for five days a week.
Help train counseling staff as to the safety and flow of these activities
Help build community within the Camp New Fork community.
Conduct specialized activities for custom user groups who come to utilize the facility
General Responsibility – Carry Out Camp Programs
Guide group and individual campers towards successful participation in all aspects of camp activities.
Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
Develop group activity plans with participants as appropriate.
Supervise all aspects of the campers' activity periods.
Instruct campers in emergency procedures such as fire drills that pertain to your activity area.
Help campers plan participation in special events and activities.
Assist in teaching or leading an activity as assigned.
Flexibility to serve as a counselor when program area is not in session
General Responsibility – Fulfill Other Staff Administrative Roles
Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and meetings.
Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean up and chores, and sportsmanship.
Follow camp rules and regulations pertaining to smoking, use of alcoholic beverages, and use of drugs.
Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment , and facilities.
Maintain good public relations with campers' parents and the general public.
Submit all required reports on time.
Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in your program area.
These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

Ability to communicate and work with all groups (age and skill levels), and provide necessary instruction to campers.
Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness or injury); and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
