AUGUST GATZKE

August is stepping into his role as Program Director for Camp New Fork after three incredible years as a Trip Leader for Wilderness Adventures and many more as a student on WA programs. Growing up on a small farm outside of Brookings, South Dakota, he developed an early appreciation for the natural world, the changing seasons, and the importance of outdoor stewardship.

This passion for nature has shaped every part of his life, fostering a deep and lasting connection to the outdoors. Among his favorite activities are backpacking and rafting, adventures that continue to inspire him.

Drawing on his extensive experience in the summer camp world, August is committed to designing and delivering exceptional programming for Camp New Fork participants. His goal is to create meaningful and transformative outdoor experiences that connect people to nature and to each other. August is excited to welcome new and familiar faces into the Camp New Fork community.
