Camp New Fork to Reopen in 2025

Wilderness Adventures now Managing Historic Youth Camp

Jackson, Wyoming – October 4, 2024 – Wilderness Ventures LLC, doing business as Wilderness Adventures, is excited to announce the reopening of the historic Camp New Fork, located near Cora, Wyoming in 2025. With oversight from the US Forest Service, the company has recently completed the permit transfer from the Boy Scouts of America: Crossroads of the West Council.  The addition of Camp New Fork to Wilderness Adventures’ portfolio of youth adventure offerings reinforces their commitment to providing life-changing outdoor experiences to youth and families.

With over 50 years of experience, Wilderness Adventures has built a reputation as a national leader in outdoor adventure programming for youth. The series of companies, operated by the Holland Family of Jackson, Wyoming includes Wilderness Adventures, Base Camp Jackson Hole at Snow King, Missoula Outdoor Learning Adventures (MOLA) and, now, Camp New Fork. The addition of the Camp New Fork permit, a 78-acre property nestled along the pristine New Fork Lakes and surrounded by national forest, adds a dedicated basecamp for traditional summer camp, immersive wilderness expeditions and outdoor education programs.

For nearly 100 years, Camp New Fork was operated by the Boys Scouts of America: Crossroads of the West as a premier destination for scouts from around the United States. Over the past year, with the support of the US Forest Service, Wilderness Adventures and the Boys Scouts worked to transfer the USFS special use permit.

Tom Holland, CEO of Wilderness Adventures, expressed his enthusiasm about their newest program: "We are thrilled to welcome Camp New Fork into the Wilderness Adventures family. The camp is extraordinary, and it will be wonderful to open it once again to children. Camp New Fork’s rich history, scenic location, and proximity to the Wind River Range make it a perfect addition to our program offerings."

Camp New Fork has been a beloved destination for generations, providing a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, canoeing, and climbing. Under the stewardship of Wilderness Adventures, the camp will continue to operate as a youth summer camp. Wilderness Adventures plans to preserve the natural beauty and rustic charm of the camp while enhancing the infrastructure in the coming years. The addition of this program will also open up new opportunities for partnerships with schools and organizations interested in outdoor education and leadership development.

Holland adds, “As we get camp running again next summer, space will be limited for our first season. Still, it will be Camp New Fork’s 100th anniversary in 2025, and we are so excited to celebrate that wonderful legacy by welcoming campers back to camp.”
